About

Lucy gained her masters at The Royal College of Art in 2009. She is now a practising fine artist and illustrator based in Todmorden having recently moved  from London after 17 years. She was born in South Africa to English parents and brought up in Gloucestershire from the age of eight.

“If you’ve ever loved books then these are the art works for you. Atherton creates worlds, highly patterned and distinctive, as exotic as a child’s imagination, and as a tenaciously memorable as her mystical and lovingly rendered cartographies. These pieces take you back to a time when you didn’t just read books, but lived in them, and could not leave behind the worlds in them simply by closing the cover. If you like Wes Anderson you’ll love these”
